چکیده
The aim of this study was to discuss the experience of building an educational software about the auscultation of breathing sounds. In the process, Lev Semenovic Vygotsky's pedagogic theoretical framework was used, and the content was delimited so as to encompass the auscultation method step by step. The objective of the auscultation was to classify normal and strange sounds and their particular stethoacoustic characteristics. For the development of the system was used 3D technology, including virtual personification of the patients, nurses and objects. A virtual environment for the auscultation using simulation procedures was used as well. It was concluded that initiatives such as that, although facing many difficulties, bring important contributions to teaching-learning of contents related to nursing education.

Design of Wearable Breathing Sound Monitoring System for Real-Time Wheeze Detection
In the clinic, the wheezing sound is usually considered as an indicator symptom to reflect the degree of airway obstruction. The auscultation approach is the most common way to diagnose wheezing sounds, but it subjectively depends on the experience of the physician. Several previous studies attempted to extract the features of breathing sounds to detect wheezing sounds automatically. However, t...
متن کاملAn open real-time tele-stethoscopy system
BACKGROUND Acute respiratory infections are the leading cause of childhood mortality. The lack of physicians in rural areas of developing countries makes difficult their correct diagnosis and treatment. The staff of rural health facilities (health-care technicians) may not be qualified to distinguish respiratory diseases by auscultation. For this reason, the goal of this project is the developm...
متن کاملA Dual-mode Noise-immune Stethoscope for Use in Noisy Vehicles
In combat casualty and civilian environments, an unmet need exists for a stethoscope that can hear heart and especially breathing sounds while inside helicopters, fixed-wing aircraft, or ambulances where noise levels preclude auscultation with standard stethoscopes. Without this capability, patients can suffer from unidentified collapsed lungs or loss of intubation integrity with the threat of ...
متن کاملModified stethoscope for auscultation of temporomandibular joint sounds.
BACKGROUND Purpose of this study was to modify the stethoscope which can auscultate the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) sounds more precisely than conventional stethoscope, and fabrication of stethoscope compatible software which analyses the auscultated sound and gives documentary evidence of that analysis in the form of graph. MATERIALS & METHODS The conventional stethoscope was modified by a...

Laënnec invented the stethoscope in 1816 and published a treatise on auscultation in 1819. We then had to wait until the 1950s to observe development of modern devices and methods of recording and signal-processing, which allowed objective studies of lung sounds in time and frequency fields. Tracheobronchial sounds generated by ventilation originate in the upper airways, the frequency content o...
